History
Once part of the renowned Hotel Victoria, established in 1877 and frequented by prestigious companies like Cadbury’s and the UK Tea Company. The restaurant came into existence in 1914 following significant entrance remodelling of the building.
Boyds served as the hotel's coffee room until the 1940s-1980s when it was used by the Ministry of Defence. During this time, it played a crucial role in the war effort as a strategic planning computer room, with remnants of its past still visible today.
The restaurant space alone contains fifteen different types of marble from three different periods, 1887, 1914 and 2007, including the rare ‘Belgian Black’. Its opulent ambiance is defined by crystal chandeliers, tall ceilings, and a copper crafted bar.
